Outside the Reykjavik Art Museum. The ocean video is rather convincing: this is the first time I’ve experienced seasickness on solid ground!

AIRWAVES SNAPSHOT: DAY 2

Here are a few snapshots from Airwaves last night. My favourite act was Borko at the Reykjavik Art Museum (Hafnarhús). Why is it that if really loud music is also really good, my ears are suddenly fine with the volume?! Performing live, Borko hits exactly the right balance between indie rock, acoustic and… Borko-esque.

REYKJAVIK GEARS UP FOR AIRWAVES

You probably already know that Reykjavik has a solid music scene most days of the week, but this is an especially happening time of year as the city gears up for its annual Iceland Airwaves festival. Last […]

AUGUST WEEKENDS IN REYKJAVIK

August weekends in Reykjavík—mostly! Is it just me, or are there more weekend festivities in Reykjavík’s August than other months? The following is a quick guide to some of the things happening in Iceland’s capital this August (well mostly the capital, but I was up north for the first weekend). Not an exhaustive list, but […]

Bjork performs Biophilia

Bjork Live in Iceland: It’s in her DNA

Like many, I have had a long love affair with Iceland’s siren in a swan dress, and last night I was lucky enough to see her new show Biophilia at the Manchester International Festival.   As if that weren’t momentous enough, as I left the show wanting more, I found out she’d just announced six shows […]
