Reykjavik city council will be showing us all how fabulous they are, once again, by switching off the street lights so everyone can get a good look at the northern lights! There is, of course, no guarantee that the lights will appear, but the weather forecast is exceptional tonight for northern lights gazing with no cloud coverage whatsoever in the region, and the auroral activity is a level-4 rating, which is pretty decent. The city lights are scheduled to go out at 20:30 and the blackout will last for 45 minutes! So, set your northern lights alarm for 8 pm if you’re in town and enjoy hunting for the auroras!

Find out more about the northern lights by visiting Icelandair’s new aurora page dedicated entirely to the phenomena.
