Rain at an outdoor event is normally an unwelcome guest, but this particular downfall was transformed by powerful strobe lights with the stunning effect of making each drop look electric! It certainly added a well-timed level of intensity to the already pumped atmosphere at Kitty Von-Sometime’s pool party I attended this weekend at Vesturbaejarlaug in Reykjavik.
Apart from the top tunes supplied courtesy of the multi-talented Kitty Von-Sometime and her disk-jockey crew featuring: DJ 101, DJ Manny and Margrét Erla Maack; the party people at this Winter Lights Festival event were further delighted when around 4,000 glow-sticks were added to the pool-mix! Although I didn’t get wet in the pool, I got plenty soaked in the electric rain as I danced to the massive-power-beats DJ Manny was driving – it’s a good job there wasn’t a ceiling!
In case you’re not already acquainted with Kitty Von-Sometime, she is a well-known and much-loved artist and director from the U.K living in Reykjavik. Her Weird Girls project, which focuses on empowering ordinary women and championing Icelandic music and design, has won her much critical acclaim both in Iceland and abroad. Thanks for a great night Kitty!
