There are only a few days left ’til Christmas and if you’re spending the holidays in town then you’ll want to know what the opening hours are. Thankfully, given the number of visitors to the city this time of year lots of shops have extended opening hours with many restaurants offering special Christmas menus. We highly recommend favourite Christmassy hangouts like Café Babalu (open from 10 am to 9 pm on Christmas Eve and from 10 am – 10 pm on Christmas day) and the always-wonderful Slippbarinn at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina (open from 12 noon until 12 midnight on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).  For more information on opening times of swimming pools, museums and other restaurants and shops have a look at this comprehensive list put together by the Official Visit Reykjavík Tourist Information Centre — it’s a great resource and well worth bookmarking before you set off on your travels around Reykjavík.

Tip! Restaurants fill up quickly around Christmas and especially on New Year’s Eve, so best to book in advance. Happy holidays and have a fabulous time in Reykjavík.
