This adorable young puffin, named Mundi Lundi (which would sound something like Muffin the Puffin in English) was recently found injured with a head trauma and a broken beak by one the main roads running along the seafront in Reykjavik city centre. He is now being cared for by the lovely Ásrún Magnúsdóttir and her boyfriend Egill Kaktus Þ. Wild, who came to his rescue and whisked him off to the vets to get his wounds tended to. It’s not known what caused the injuries, but according to Ásrún, it’s likely that he flew head first into a moving vehicle. He’s also suffering from an eye infection which seems to be affecting his eyesight, but together they are doing a wonderful job taking care of him and he’s improving every day.
Mundi, who likes prawns and taking a bath, is surprisingly tame for a wild bird and seems to be enjoying his new domestic life, but he will hopefully, once he’s fully recovered, join his feathery friends back at sea. In the meantime, he has found a couple of amazing human companions, who simply adore animals, to nurse him back to health.
