A lovely lie-in, breakfast in bed, flowers, chocolates and no cooking or cleaning! Oh wouldn’t it be lovely if it was Konudagur or ‘Woman’s Day’ everyday? Apart from it being the day where women get pampered all day long by their husbands, partners or just themselves, this day also marks the end of Thorri and the start of the old Icelandic month of Góa. Thankfully there are no weird culinary customs associated with Góa, so if you’re in Reykjavik this evening and you’re a lady, look out for something called “Konudagur tilbod” (women’s day special offers), you might be surprised to get some extra special offers in shops and especially restaurants; where you won’t have to worry about being served rotten shark or ram’s testicles. That stuff is so last month!
