The 18th edition of the Iceland Airwaves festival opened this week with some fabulous performances by artists in both Reykjavík and Akureyri – Iceland’s northern capital. We checked out some of the action happening in Reykjavik last night starting with the phenomenal Grísalappalísa at Gamla Bíó (Viking Brewery Stage) and the completely kooky DJ Flugvél og Geimskip (Airplane & Spaceship) at Húrra. We also revisited old favourites like Good Moon Deer and Furturegrapher, who never fail to impress, before stumbling into the sensational musical territory of acts like ANWIYCTI from Hong Kong and Mikko Joensuu, from Finland. Friday’s night’s schedule is about to start in just a few hours, but in the meantime, here, for you to enjoy, are some our best shots from last night’s Airwaves tour of Reykjavík!
