Celebrate the Food & Fun Festival in Reykjavik: March 1-5

With the Food & Fun festival coming up in Reykjavík this week, visitors can expect to see a massive focus on the city’s thriving culinary scene. During the event, a number of internationally renowned chefs will be cooking up some delicious dishes with their own unique spin on Icelandic food. There are some great restaurants participating in this year’s event including Geiri Smart Restaurant at Canopy Reykjavík, VOX at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica and Slippbarinn at Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina. Amongst the guest chefs participating, you’ll find Brandon Batlzley – the voice of native and nomadic cuisine who has worked at a number of Michelin-starred restaurants in the USA.  Brandon, who owns and runs The Buffalo Jump, will be commandeering the kitchens at Geiri Smart during the festival. At Slippbariin you’ll find executive chef from the Ripple in Washington D.C. Ryan Ratino. Ryan, who is a graduate from Le Cordon Bleu school in Orlando, has worked for a number of fabulous restaurants around the US including the Michelin star recipient Cavier Russe. Guests dining at Vox will be treated to the culinary delights of Marcus Jernmark – the Executive Chef at Stockholm’s 2-star Michelin Restaurant Frantzén – who, having worked for the Consulate General of Sweden in New York City, has cooked for celebrities, royalty, politicians and Noble Prize Winners.
